Bear comes to us from a loving family who has had him since he was a puppy. They were unable to keep him due to a change of circumstance and have entrusted him to us, knowing we will find him a great home.

Bear is a sweet old boy with tons of energy. Still moves like a young pup but with that old man swagger. He’s not black and grey, he’s black and platinum. He’s been around a lot of grand kids but is still protective with the house. Lots of energy but will listen if you tell him sit or shake. Bear is house trained and is a Great Dog Looking For A Great Family. Bear needs a home without cats or small critters.

Update As you can see, Bear is a “handsome dude”. As mentioned earlier his coat it black and platinum – this coloring on his chest, belly, legs and face could be described as “heather” and is most likely a result of being a Lab mixed with either Hound or Pointer. Although Bear is 9 years old, no one told him! He is quite energetic and acts as though he was 4 or 5 years old. He loves to go for walks, pulling a little at first, then settling down and walking nicely for 2 or more miles at a time. At home he likes to play with his 5 year old foster sister. But he is also happy to play by himself – either tossing around a rope toy or bouncing and chasing a ball. As active as he can be, he also settles down nicely in the house and can be heard snoring while napping. He has done well when meeting dogs of all ages and sizes. It appears that he would do well in a home with another dog, or be an only dog, as long as he gets attention from his human. He can NOT be in a home with cats or other small critters as he seems to have a strong prey drive. He is house trained, knows basic commands including sit, wait and shake. He sleeps throughout the night in a crate. We have been advised that he is good with children, but we haven’t been able to confirm that in his foster home.
