Marco is a smart, 2-1/2 year old healthy boy who is ready to devote his life to being a member of your family. He now knows many commands and hand signals and walks quite well on leash. He is completely housebroken with the use of his dog door, stays off furniture, and doesn't bother things left out on the countertop. Marco doesn't take off running outdoors every time a door or gate opens and if allowed to go out off leash, returns when you call. He is a very trusted companion who has never damaged or destroyed anything in his foster home, is not a barker and doesn't dig in the yard or jump fences.

He is fine with a crate for those short periods when he cannot have the full run of the house. Marco enjoys accompanying his fosters to outdoor patio restaurants, and most mornings and evenings will find him on long walks around the neighborhood or hiking at Mission Trails Park. He enjoys and needs the exercise. He likes kids but at 63 #s can become overly excited and too rambunctious for small ones without proper guidance.

After a bit of introduction, Marco invited another dog to stay with him for 10 days while the owners were away. This was a first for Marco and after day 2 they became best friends and enjoyed each other's company. It was nice to see.

Marco's forever family will have a very loyal companion who loves being with them and will only get better with age. They must be patient however and perfect his behavior with daily consistency and structure to continue to help him learn to settle at those times when he does become stressed.

Marco isn't that cuddly "out of the box ready for anything on day one" type dog. Growing up, he was never socialized with people or dogs and now takes a day or two to warm up or adjust to new things. We're looking for someone who wants to continue his training to have Marco become the best ever family member, someone who does not need an already "perfect" and social dog to rough play with at a dog park or beach. If you would like to meet Marco or have questions, please inquire or let your home visit rep know
