** August 11th: UPDATE FROM FOSTER ** Remington has been with us for almost 2 weeks now and wow, what a change from day one!! He came in a SUPER shy little man, afraid of our big dogs and a little afraid of us, but he has completely come out of his shell and is learning to be a social butterfly! He loves to play with our almost 3 yr old Lab now and is playing with toys, balls and bones(which he had no idea how to do when he 1st came to us). He takes treats gently and learned the doggy door in about 5 minutes flat, so he’s super smart. He only had one accident in the house (and that was in his 2nd day here!) and not one since then. He attached VERY quickly to me and will cry and even howl sometimes if he can't follow me, but it is getting a bit better and he's slowly becoming more independent. He sleeps in our bed at night (and sleeps through the night!) and we will crate when we’re not home (which isn’t very often and we haven’t left him for more than 2 hours).
As of right now, we believe he would do best with a family that will be around more often than not because he bonds SO quickly. They will have to be ok with sleeping with him in bed with them (he doesn’t take up much space!) and be patient because he does cry when he’s feeling insecure. He’s good with our dogs but I do believe he’d do ok on his own as long as his person was around him. I don’t think he’d do well with cats – seems to have a prey drive with lizards and birds in the yard. He is a SERIOUSLY sweet boy though and I think he’s going to be an amazing dog and very loyal to his owner. Also – probably no little ones since he jumps and really needs to be the center of attention.
Remington's family reached out to LR for help in finding a forever home for this sweet boy. He is a cuddle bug. He loves to be held and soaks up the love. He has lived a shelter life and a lot of things are new to him. He gets nervous at first then seems to relax and figures it out. He seems more confident having another dog around right now. Time will tell as we get to know him a bit better. He takes treats gently. He likes to follow you around. He is not in your face and under foot type of follow you around guy. He is more of what are doing and I'm curious kinda guy. He will be a medium size boy when he grows up. You can see his Mom in one of the photos. She is about 55 lbs. Remington is as sweet as they come. He has very sweet eyes and makes good eye contact.
